New papermaking process is expected to achieve zero pollution

Reporter Gao Baosheng learned from the State Forestry Administration that the 30,000-ton industrial pulping production line put into production on July 10 in Dandong, Liaoning Province, could not only realize the integration of agriculture, forestry, and paper, but also be ecological due to the adoption of an “oxidative clean pulping process”. The circular economy pattern solves the two major problems of “serious pollution” and “shortage of raw materials” for pulping and realizes zero pollution in the papermaking industry. This achievement was called by the relevant experts as a great pioneering activity in China's paper industry.

The “self-even oxidation and clean pulping process” adopted by this project was reviewed by experts organized by the State Environmental Protection Administration and was confirmed as “basically no discharge of wastewater waste residue, no excessive noise and hazardous substances”. The process can use all straw and straw shrubs in the countryside for pulping and bleaching, which can not only solve the problem of insufficient raw materials in the paper industry, but also contribute to increase farmers' income.

According to estimates of relevant experts of the State Forestry Administration, annual plants such as mulberry, imperial bamboo, and salix are planted in the sandy area, with an output of 3 to 5 tons per mu, which can be used for pulping and can be used for income from 600 to 1,000 yuan in ten thousand mu of annual income.
