Valuable wood ebony

Ebony, also known as "Ebony" (EBONY), is known as "Urban" or "Uwen". It is a precious tree species with black heartwood in the Diospyros of the persimmon species (Ebenaceae).

Persimmon trees are distributed in tropical, subtropical and some temperate regions. Black heartwood is mainly produced in tropical Asia and Africa, such as India, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Myanmar, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos. Madagascar, Congo. Gabon and other countries. China's Taiwan, Hainan, Yunnan and other places also have production.

In the traditional timber industry (such as the national musical instrument manufacturing industry), ebony wood is customarily divided into three types: ebony (horned horn), green wood (tea wu), and black wood (wuwen). The macro characteristics of ebony products: the heart and sapwood are distinctly different, and the heartwood is black or chestnut brown. Loose hole material. The growth wheel is not obvious, the tube hole is slightly under the inner eye (small to very small); the content is rich (mostly containing dark gum). The axial thin tissue is rich, and the main concentric layer is linear (tangential). The wood ray is fine to very fine, the surface markings are not obvious, and the string marks are not visible. The wood is shiny. No special smell. The structure is fine and uniform, and the texture is usually until it is slightly staggered. The material is hard and heavy. Corrosion resistant and durable. The air dry density is greater than 0.85 g/cm3 and usually sinks in water.
