CTP machine surface maintenance

Clean the outer surface of the output device to protect the appearance and surface finish, and ensure that the visual indicators and marks are clearly visible. More importantly, regular cleaning reduces dust that may fall into the device when removing or opening the access panel. The areas where dust is most likely to accumulate are the fan box panel, power box panel, front and top panels, and areas where plates enter and exit the output device. Reliable, high-quality output requires that the external surface of the output device be kept clean.

Cleaning It is recommended to vacuum all seams of the access panel before removing the outer surface of the output device to remove any accumulated dust. If you often wipe the surface clean with a dry cloth, and the environment is relatively dry without steam, it may be enough as long as you do so. For a more thorough cleaning, use a cloth dampened with water and mild detergent. Use a clean damp cloth to thoroughly wipe off any remaining detergent. (Warning: Do not let water or other liquids flow into the output device at will. This may cause electric shock, serious injury, and damage to the output device.)

CTP machine internal maintenance

To locate the image to the edge of the printing plate, the output device uses an edge detection algorithm. The algorithm relies on a 741-mm (29.2-inch) black non-reflective test strip placed in the surface of the imaging drum inside the output device, which is located inside the output device on the surface of the imaging drum next to the front-edge clamp. The edge detection strip must be cleaned once a month to avoid edge detection errors.

1. Clean the edge detection strip

(1) Make sure that the output device is not currently working.

(2) Turn off the output device.

(3) Open the front door.

(4) Turn the imaging drum by hand until you see the edge detection strip. Note: Do not grasp the right end surface of the imaging drum. This may damage the optical encoder in the imaging drum.

(5) Wet a piece of cotton-free cloth with distilled water (suitable for precise operation), and wipe the test strip only once in one direction. (Be careful not to leave any fingerprints or smudges on the test strip. Wipe dry with a clean dry cloth after wiping.)

2. Clean the plate roller

(1) Make sure that the output device is not currently working.

(2) Turn off the output device.

(3) Open the front door.

(4) Gently wipe the other hand and gently flip the plate roller (bright blue) with a damp cotton-free cloth (suitable for precision operations). (Be careful not to leave any fingerprints or smudges on the test strip. Wipe dry with a clean dry cloth after wiping.)

3. Clean the imaging drum

(1) Make sure that the output device is not currently imaging the printing plate.

(2) Turn off the output device.

(3) Open the front door.

(4) Gently wipe the other hand with a moistened cotton-free cloth (suitable for precise operations) to gently turn the imaging drum. (Be careful not to leave any fingerprints or smudges on the test strip. Wipe dry with a clean dry cloth after wiping.)
