According to sources, Ethylene Glycols Singapore (EGS) , a Singaporean ethylene glycol producer, may restart its ethylene glycol plant in Palau Amorambo on Jurong Island at the end of August or early September after the planned maintenance was completed . EGS stopped the maintenance of the device in early July and it is expected that the parking will continue until late August or early September. The device includes a single MEG production line with a capacity of 130,000 tons/year.
In addition to producing MEG, the device also produces ethylene oxide, natural and artificial polyoxyethylene ethers. EGS is a joint venture between Shell and JSEC, with Shell holding 70% and JSEC holding 30%. JSEC is a Japanese investment consortium led by Japan's Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation.
