Royal Remnant: The Summer Palace Ming and Qing Furniture Fair is on display for free

In order to welcome the May 18th International Museum Day, on May 16th, the "Royal Remnant - The Summer Palace Ming and Qing Dynasties Furniture Exhibition" jointly organized by Haidian Museum and the Summer Palace opened in the Haidian Museum. A total of more than 60 pieces of Ming and Qing dynasty royal furniture were collected in the exhibition, including Jing Zuo, Su Zuo, Guang Zuo and other categories, many of which are state-level cultural relics.

Haidian District is a famous imperial garden area. The feudal rulers of the past dynasties, especially the Ming and Qing dynasties, handled government affairs and leisurely activities, leaving the famous garden communities such as “Three Mountains and Five Parks” and other famous Chinese and foreign gardens. The Summer Palace is one of the outstanding representatives. In the royal garden, the furniture is closely related to the palace environment. The material, style and architectural scale, interior decoration and regional functions are coordinated and unified. Many furniture designs also take care of the garden culture. More than 60 pieces of furniture exhibited at the Haidian Museum are the precious collections of the Summer Palace. They are mainly composed of red sandalwood, huanghuali, golden nanmu, mahogany and other rare materials. These furniture are made of fine materials and exquisite workmanship, which is a microcosm of the profound culture of the royal garden. It is understood that the royal furniture of the Summer Palace is the only system of royal palace furniture except the Beijing Forbidden City.

In addition, in order to facilitate the audience to visit, deepen the audience's understanding of classical furniture, the exhibition is also accompanied by a large number of informative materials and illustrations, telling the audience about the wood raw materials, varieties and forms of ancient furniture, enamel structure, decorative techniques, etc. At the same time of furniture knowledge, let everyone appreciate the style and aesthetic taste reflected by it.

It is reported that the exhibition will be open to the public free of charge from May 17th to August 31st. It will open from 9:00-16:30 every Tuesday to Sunday. Individual visitors can visit the museum directly with valid ID cards without reservation. The museum is open from 9:00-16:30 from Tuesday to Sunday, and is closed at 16:15. It is closed on Monday (the national legal holidays are closed on Mondays).
