"Made in China" going to the world

A few days ago, I accompanied my aunt to visit relatives in the United States.

Soon after arriving in San Francisco, accompanied by my cousin, we went to the famous "flea market". The two flea markets in downtown San Francisco have their own characteristics: Alemany focuses on antique furniture, accessories and jewellery from around the world; Mission Street is dominated by used home appliances, kitchen supplies and small items. We are going to Mission Street.

Walking into Mission Street, what surprised me was that this famous market could not find a store. Most vendors sell a tarp on the floor and then stack the goods on top. Moreover, here, the most common credit cards and checks in the US commodity society are “bumping”, and in addition to the stalls selling new goods, they are all traded in cash. Therefore, the cousin has already explained us over and over again, and must shop around and buy it. Be aware that vendors are not appearing every week, and even if they appear, they may not be in the same location. There are no storefronts, signboards, and sales receipts.

Because of the cousin's embarrassment, I am very careful to buy things, always look carefully. This made me discover a phenomenon.

For example, I just saw a novelty, beautifully crafted pencil sharpener, a chariot of bronze metal materials, a warship, a cannon, and so on. I like it very much. I examined it in detail and, to my surprise, the MADE IN CHINA (Made in China) was printed on the package. This made me unable to start to pay attention to the situation of Chinese goods in the US market. From toys to clothing and footwear, from stationery to sports equipment, from lamps to household appliances, from furniture to office supplies, “Made in China” has captured more than half of the entire market.

I asked my cousin whether there are so many "Made in China" because there are so many Chinese people in San Francisco. The cousin smiled and said:

"Now the United States, can not do without China's goods." Then explained to me: "American toys, bedside lamps and sports shoes, half of the Chinese products; clothing, mobile phones, bicycles, etc., Chinese goods also More than one to two percent." The cousin said that the hangers, table fans, DVDs and some kitchen utensils used in her home are Chinese goods bought in the United States. Because Chinese merchants are of good quality and low price, they are very suitable for the needs of low- and middle-income families in the United States, so they are very popular. Some people even said that the day of the Americans woke up in the sound of the Chinese alarm clock and fell asleep in the glow of the Chinese bedside lamp.

The cousin’s words made the aunt who was older than the old one quite emotional. Imagine that in the past, the old China was bullied by the powers, the country was poor, the national industry was dying, the people could only use oil, ocean fire, and foreign cloth. The most basic daily necessities depended on imports. Then look at the "Made in China" to the world. It has become the "foreign goods" needed by the people of many developed countries such as the United States, Japan, and Europe. This stark contrast shows the great progress and brilliant achievements of the 60 years of New China, especially the 30 years of reform and opening up. How can a Chinese person not feel the joy and pride of heartfelt!
