2.5 Effect of Filler on Performance of PS Modified Adhesive

Change the amount of filler, and study its effect on the modified Ps glue. The results are shown in Figure 5. As can be seen from Figure 5, the addition of talc powder has a great influence on the shear strength and viscosity of the modified gum. With the increase of the amount of talcum powder, the initial shearing strength and viscosity increased dramatically. When the amount of talc increased, the viscosity continued to increase and the shear strength did not increase significantly. When the amount exceeds 1.5 g, the shear strength increases. Instead, it decreases. The reason for this is that the addition of filler talc can increase the cross-linking reaction between macromolecules of Ps to form a network structure, thereby improving the adhesive properties of the glue; however, the talcum powder is filled too much and the viscosity of the glue is too large, which affects the surface of the adhesive. Impregnating permeability is poor, and the bond strength is reduced. Therefore, the optimal amount of talc is 1.5g.


2.6 Effect of Reaction Time on PS Modified Glue

The modification reaction time was changed and the effect of the modified Ps glue was studied. The results are shown in FIG. 6 . From the figure, it can be seen that as the reaction time increases, the viscosity and shear strength of the waste ps modified adhesive increase. This is due to the fact that the reaction, such as modification, grafting, and crosslinking, proceeds with the reaction time, PS The polar genes and the degree of cross-linking on the macromolecules are all increased, so that the bonding strength increases. When the reaction time reached 1 h, the viscosity and shear strength did not increase significantly. After 2 hours of reaction, the viscosity continued to increase dramatically. The viscosity reached 12.0 Pa·s at 3 h and the shear strength decreased. The reason for this is that the reaction time is too long, and the fluidity, wettability, and permeability of the adhesive become too poor due to excessive cross-linking of the glue (poor stability of the glue), resulting in a decrease in the adhesive strength of the modified Ps adhesive. Comprehensive consideration of the modification time of 1 hour is appropriate.

3 Conclusion

1) Using polystyrene (Ps) foam as the main raw material, butyl acrylate (BA) and methyl methacrylate (MAA) monomers as modifiers, graft modification and emulsification of polystyrene Become a new type of modified water emulsion adhesive. The ps adhesive has a solid content of more than 40%, a rotational viscosity of more than 3.4 Pa.s, a room temperature shear strength of more than 3.5 MPa, and free aldehydes, toluene, and total amount of xylenes and other harmful substances are lower than the standard requirements;

2) Monomer BA, MAA, modification time, cross-linking agent, filler, etc. can all have a greater effect on the shear strength and viscosity of the adhesive.
