Thermal transfer common technical problems

What is thermal transfer?

Thermal transfer is a new method for printing patterned goods, suitable for printing a small number of various personalized products, as well as full-color images or photographs, and has become increasingly popular. The principle is to transfer digital images through inkjet printers or laser printers and print them on special transfer special papers. The special transfer papers with patterns on them are placed on the goods. Precise transfer to the surface of the product completes the product transfer.
Not all products can use thermal transfer to print patterns, involving the heat resistance of products, smoothness, ... and other factors. As the technology continues to advance, the products that have been maturely developed using thermal transfer technology include: clothes, fabric bags, hats, pillows, mugs, porcelain plates, tiles, watch cases, mouse pads, coasters, hanging Calendars, medals, pennants, work cards, house signs...etc. We will use the latest thermal transfer and other technologies to continue to develop more personalized products, from head to toe, from wear to use, to meet your desire for personality performance. Thermal transfer technology can be further divided into several types, the most important being film transfer and sublimation transfer.

Common Textile Transfer Technology Common textile transfer technology is film transfer and sublimation transfer.
1. Sublimation transfer: The current technology is mainly applicable to clothes whose surface is polyester, such as fast-sweat shirts and physical comfort shirts, and white clothes are the best (printing patterns are white, but clothes The other parts can be other colors, such as color sleeves. After the colored clothes are sublimated digitally, the fusion of ink and colored fibers will make the colors of the patterns different from the original. It is not recommended to use them.
2. Film transfer: The current technology is mainly used for clothes with extremely high cotton content. All kinds of colors can be transferred by film, but darker clothes use higher-priced "special transfer paper for dark clothes", which is heavier in quality and less stable in quality.

Transfer technology of ceramics and metal products

Ceramic products are dye-sublimation-transferred and sublimate to the merchandise at a high temperature of approximately 200 degrees Celsius. The color is sharp and the pattern is highly reliable. However, the general mug cannot be directly transferred, and the pattern must be transferred after a special treatment of coating.

The use of electric iron for thermal transfer method due to the limitations of electric iron heat, generally can not transfer A4 size (20 × 30cm or more) items, electric iron must be able to adjust, and the power is better;
1. First adjust the iron to the cotton fabric (160-180°C or so) and preheat it until the heat indicator light is on;
2. Place the clothes on the ironing board and use the iron to remove the moisture for a few seconds on the part to be printed.
3, transfer paper printing surface down on the clothing to be transferred to the site, with stickers on the four corners of the paper to prevent paper movement;
4. Lay high-temperature flexible asbestos cloth on the clothes with good transfer paper, and flatten it with four clips on the edge of the ironing board;
5, with the iron slightly back pressure slowly back and forth in the heat transfer cloth with a part of the transfer of hot 20-30 seconds, depending on the size of the time the size of the flexible master;
6. When the transfer paper is not cooled, remove it from the clothing, otherwise it will stick.

T-shirts and cotton textiles after the transfer of maintenance methods??

1. The T-shirt that has just been transferred will have a hard feeling and will become softer after you wash it.
2. Newly processed T-shirts should be washed after 2 hours. Turn clothes over to wash.
3. Do not rub the surface of the T-shirt pattern by hand (the material of the pattern surface will not be attached with dirt).
4. Do not wash with detergent containing bleach.
5. Wash with warm water or cold water below 40°C.
6. Try not to wash with a washing machine.
7. After washing, do not dry it with a clothes dryer.
8. To dry naturally, do not twist clothes, do not expose T-shirts to the sun.
9. If the clothes need ironing, after drying, use medium-temperature steam ironing (not including high-temperature ironing of elastic fibers, so as not to damage the structure of elastic fibers, affect the elastic effect of the clothes), and do not iron directly on the pattern.
10. After ironing, do not tuck into the narrow spaces. Hang them on hangers or spread them flat to keep them flat.

Sublimation inks with modifiers for transfer textiles

Use a thermal transfer ink to transfer the pattern on ordinary inkjet paper or special paper for dye sublimation. Make sure that the modifier is sprayed in the place where the transfer is needed. Then heat the tablet 180 degrees. The clothes are allowed to dry on the tablet before they can be transferred. To avoid the yellowing of the cotton cloth, the solution is to apply a layer of release paper around the clothes during the transfer. Modifiers are only used when transferring by thermal sublimation

Some chemical fiber-containing textiles have been tested without the use of modifiers and directly use sublimation inks

Generally speaking, the temperature can be transferred between 170-220°C, the baking time and the area of the baked pattern, the coating used, the ink, the transfer paper, the ambient temperature and the humidity all have different influences. There is no absolute formula to check. The higher the temperature is, the shorter the time required is. The time range should be within 30-100 seconds. It should be noted that the time for printing with transfer paper and ordinary ink should not exceed 40 seconds.

How to use heat transfer coating?

Can be directly sprayed, soaked or poured on the surface of the work, the surface coating of the workpiece drained, no longer flowing, put into the oven has been heated to 220 °C for 10 minutes baking at 130 °C for about half an hour If it is found to be yellow then it is too long or the temperature is too high. If the sticker is baked for too short a time. Suitable for large amount of friends

With a 1 liter coating, you can spray 5 square meters of work or 300 mugs

The range of wood, metal, stone and other flat materials can withstand high temperatures up to 220 degrees and can be used for more than 10 minutes.

1. First wipe the surface of the media with the detergent inside the detergent.
2. Turn on the oven or oven while wiping the media, and let it begin to heat up.
3. Soak the cleaned medium in a coated container and apply it evenly on the surface. Then remove it and put it on a shelf to dry it. Wait until there is no coating flow down, put into the oven heated to 220 degrees, baking time is set to 10 minutes, time to take out to use

Precautions

1. When baking a metal plate, be sure to dry it before putting it in the oven, otherwise blistering will occur. 2. Coatings produced by some companies need to be mixed by two solvents in a certain proportion, that is, two-component coating 3. Baking coating does not need to enter the oven, can be dried at room temperature

What is Teflon thermal transfer coating? Teflon, also known as Teflon, Teflon, chemical name: Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), abbreviated as F4, Teflon has low friction, wear resistance; Moisture resistance; High insulation

In view of Teflon's excellent chemical properties, the company successfully applied it to the thermal transfer industry after repeated experiments, and developed a one-component low-temperature baking Teflon thermal transfer coating that can be applied at 80C for 30 minutes. 130C, 20 minutes, 200C, 5-10 minutes cured film. Its coating performance test is as follows

Gloss (60 Degrees Celsius Pencil Hardness Adhesion (Slit 1mm) 100/100
No cracks without solvent resistance (100% ethanol wash)?
Acid resistance 10%Hc 115 minutes Salt spray 2000 hours Resist artificial aging 5000 hours Ordinary ink cartridge heating transfer paper Can baking porcelain cups, porcelain plates do it

Some friends want their own DIY image mugs, but do not want to spend a high price to the printer to buy a set of thermal transfer ink cartridges, and the ink cartridges have not been used up and replaced to replace ordinary ink cartridges not only cause waste, but also hurt the printer, its practical Ordinary ink heating transfer paper can of course also transfer images to a coated cup. What you should pay attention to is: try to cut out the extra part of the pattern as much as possible, because the thermal transfer paper has a layer of adhesive film, and the ink printed area can not be seen on the cup, but the part with no pattern will transfer some of the film. To the cup, it will affect the overall appearance. In addition, it is best to finish with a layer of varnish after printing, so that the cup will look very smooth. Of course, when the amount is large, the sublimation ink is still a little more than the transfer paper, and the waste rate is higher with transfer paper and ordinary ink transfer mugs. Regardless of whether the image transfer of porcelain is achieved using a thermal transfer paper or a water transfer printing or baking method, no coating is required. It is equivalent to applying a film on the surface of the cup. Unlike thermal transfer, the image completely penetrates the cup. Inside the coating of the wall, there is no relief

How to use thermochromic coating

At present, the company is developing the following thermochromic coating: black, red, yellow, blue, can also develop the derivative colors of these colors, mainly used for mugs. When pouring hot water, the color gradually fades out to reveal the transferred pattern. After cooling, the traditional color changing cup is pre-coated with a color-changing coating and the pattern is retransferred. The disadvantage is that when you look closely, you can see the traces of the transfer ink. Because the color-changing coating is underneath; our product is first printed with a good pattern, and then coated, the color of the coating gradually fades when heated, the image is slowly displayed, and no image is visible after cooling, truly giving Magical feeling

Can a standard baking coaster bake a small caliber cup?

There are two standard baking mats and small-caliber baking coasters. The standard mat is usually called type I baking coaster, which can be baked on the 7.5-9cm porcelain cup; the small caliber coaster is the type II baking coaster, which can be baked on the 5-7.5cm cup. Here we provide a simple and effective The method allows standard baking mats to be baked on japan porcelain cups and other small-caliber porcelain cups, which not only reduces your capital investment in equipment, but also reduces the trouble of replacing the coasters. That is, in the standard baking cup pad, a foamed silicone pad with a size of 25×11 cm and a thickness of 3 mm is inserted into the standard baking cup pad. When the baking cup is baked, the heating time can be lengthened by about one minute.
