A research group from Xerox, USA, has recently developed a color printing technology “Switch-A-View†that can display different images according to the wavelength of the irradiated light. This was announced by the company on May 15 local time.
Ordinary printed images may have different visual effects due to the wavelength of the irradiated light, and Switch-A-View uses this visual effect more fully. For example, using this technique, two images are printed on the same sheet of paper. When exposed to blue light, only the first image is displayed, and when exposed to red light, only the other image is displayed.
To use this technique, special color management software, a printer with color verification, and a special wavelength-reducing light source named “characterizediUuminsnt†are required.
The technology can be used for a variety of purposes, including the use of the technology to print information on the location and content of goods. In the natural light and general lighting environment, only ordinary patterns can be seen. When using a specific light source, hidden information can be seen. Adhesive stickers are affixed to software products, music CDs and books, and are exposed to specific light. Can identify imitations. Images printed on T-shirts are not visible at all times and are only displayed when exposed to light from the club. Applying this technique to a popcorn box sold at a movie theater, "When a color is projected on the screen, the character image appears on the box."
The company has already obtained a patent for this technology and will provide licenses to other companies.
