Among them, more than 80% of ATMs and POS terminals in South Africa support UnionPay cards; 70% of merchants in Brazil can spend UnionPay card consumption; at the end of this year, Russia’s UnionPay card acceptance coverage will also increase to over 80%.
In addition to the traditional acceptance and card issuance business, UnionPay International has also tried to promote innovative payment services such as online payment and mobile payment in the BRICS countries. In Russia, some stores have opened the UnionPay “Cloud Flash Pay†service, which allows UnionPay cardholders to conveniently “swipe†mobile payments. The official website of airlines such as Russian Airlines and Siberia Airlines also supports UnionPay card payments. Recently, UnionPay International has also cooperated with the Russian Industrial Communication Bank, and will add more than 10,000 POS terminals to support “Cloud Flash Payment†next year.
In South Africa, UnionPay International will cooperate with South Africa's Riley Bank to implement the UnionPay card of nearly 50,000 POS terminals of South Africa's Riley Bank this year. The two sides also agreed to gradually open the online merchants of South Africa Riley Bank to support UnionPay cards, including Sun International and Tsogo Su, the two largest hotel chains in the region.
